About Me

My Life Journey
Throughout my adult life, I’ve always pursued some type of craft. About 35 years ago, I taught myself to knit from a book and did that for a few years. I discovered counted cross stitch and made that my next crafting adventure. This led to hand applique and hand quilting. My Mom and I spent hours together with the quilting and enjoying our time together.
I rediscovered knitting when a fellow teacher brought her knitting to school and asked me to help her start a knitting club. That was it; I was hooked. The club met once a week and the students knit for themselves but also worked on projects for charities. We averaged about 15 students a week. Several teachers asked to join and after retirement, I was asked to participate in an In-Service Day teaching teacher to knit. It was during this time I begin to notice the calming and relaxing benefits of knitting.
After retiring I spent time doing some of my favourite things. Spending time with family, deep-sea fishing and travelling. I still always had my knitting with me. If I was travelling, I always checked to find local yarn shops and would write a review online. On my way to go out on the boat to fish I would be knitting until it was my turn to drive. Always working with my hands.
I began to do a lot of reading on the benefits of knitting to people’s mental, physical and spiritual well-being and wanted to share this information with people and teach knitting. I had just begun to do in-person workshops when the pandemic hit. After thinking about ways to continue these workshops, I took to Zoom. I want to continue to reach people about the enjoyment and benefits of knitting through my blog and workshops. I want people to realize that being a senior is fun and full of adventure.
